15 GCSE P.E. pupils from Year 10 & 11 travelled with Miss Antrobus (Head of Girls P.E.) to St. Mary’s University, Twickenham on Tuesday 19th January for a tour of their Human Performance Laboratories.
The group were shown around this state of the art facility to help with the pupils understanding of training methods and to familiarise them with Higher Education opportunities local to Slough.
Whilst there our students learnt how to measure both aerobic and anaerobic capacity using the Harvard Step Test and Wingate test respectively. Some brave volunteers even got to try out these procedures just as any visiting elite athlete would. The pain endured can be seen in some of the photos below.
