The study of geography looks at the interactions between the human and the physical world and helps to prepare pupils for roles as global citizens.  It explains how landscapes were formed and how humans impact and interact with these landscapes. We aim to build on pupils own experiences at all scales from personal to the global.

Geography Year 9 River Trip

In June the year 9’s that chose Geography went on a trip to the River Chess in Rickmansworth. While they were there they measured the speed and depth of the river at different points, the size of the pebbles and looked at what creatures were present in the river. Much fun was had by all and when the pupils returned to school they wrote up a practice piece of controlled assessment on it to see if Rivers flow fastest on the outside of the bend.

Student Achievements

The percentage of 5 A*- C has risen the last 2 years running, with
2 pupils gaining A* grades in 2007, and an overall 50% A*-C in 2009.

This is encouraging the current geography pupils to aim higher.
