The study of geography looks at the interactions between the human and the physical world and helps to prepare pupils for roles as global citizens.  It explains how landscapes were formed and how humans impact and interact with these landscapes. We aim to build on pupils own experiences at all scales from personal to the global.

Geography Year 7 Farm Trip

On the 2nd of march year 7 were taken on a trip to Rushall farm in Reading.  They went there to look at a real working farm in action.  They learnt about soil types and what soil you needed to grow good crops. They then looked at how crop rotation can produce more crops to make more money for the farm.   The farm had 800 pregnant Ewes (Female Sheep) and we were lucky enough to see 2 that were 20 minutes old and pupils got to hold some that were a day old.  Pupils also got to see piglets, chickens, cows and two rescue donkeys the farm took on.  Its was a good learning experience and pupils enjoyed being out in the countryside.

Student Achievements

The percentage of 5 A*- C has risen the last 2 years running, with
2 pupils gaining A* grades in 2007, and an overall 50% A*-C in 2009.

This is encouraging the current geography pupils to aim higher.
