Coursework: Year 10
To be able to get a pass (A*-G) It is essential to complete 5 pieces of coursework. The coursework contributes to both the English Language and English Literature course. 20% of the English Language course is made up of written coursework and 30% of the Literature course.
This will take place during Year 10 and each half term, throughout the Autumn, Spring and Summer Term, a coursework will be completed. However, the order will vary depending on the group and class teacher. The coursework criteria is available on Fronter along with essay titles and support material.

Original Writing EN3
A creative piece of writing. Marked for accurate spelling and sentences and interesting choice of words. Magazine Interview, Autobiography, short story.
Media EN3
Looking at adverts or newspapers or film / television and writing a critical review; or constructing a media text – a tabloid front page including lead article.
Post 1914 Drama Lit
Reading a play written in the last 100 years.
An Inspector Calls by J B Priestley or Our Day Out or Blood Brothers by Willy Russell.
Speaking and Listening (EN1) makes up a further 20% of the English Language grade.
Speaking and Listening assessments will take place throughout the two year course by the class teacher.

Anthology: An extensive collection of poetry has to be studied for both Language and Literature. The Anthology, will contain a selection of the poems for the exams. These are studied in class but no notes are allowed to be taken in to the exam.
Language: Other Cultures - Poems written by poets from around the world, exploring issues of race, language, culture and identity.
